Wedding

Formerly part of West Berlin, Wedding used to be a separate borough of Berlin, but since 2001, it is part of Mitte. It is one of the poorest areas of Berlin with high levels of people on benefit and people officially living below the poverty line. This poverty means that rent is cheap and this has been taken advantage of by both artists, who have set up studios in the borough and immigrants, who have made Wedding one of the most multicultural places in Germany.

For the investor, Wedding is a good place to buy, as long as you understand that this is a poor area. Property is very cheap and Wedding’s proximity to place-of-the-moment Mitte mean that it attracting a lot of interest.

Oh, and before you ask, the name has nothing to do with the English word Wedding.
